Subject: Employees owning cows

I am searching for a new job because the dairy I worked for is being shut down. I have a large dairy who is interested in me that I will probably end up at. My old dairy has some pretty darn good cows and I am considering seeing if I can buy some and bring them to the new farm. My question is for anyone who has an employee who has cows in your barn--What kind of arrangement is fair? I think the cows will go pretty cheap, no better time to buy(other than low milk price) but they have a large amount tied up in a very modern dairy operation also. I've said for a long time I would like to dairy like I do now--I am a herdsman and take care of 200 cows but milking, feeding, fieldwork are all done by others. This would be a similar setup but I really would like to have some skin in the game.

Mike

EDIT: Please feel free to email me at [email protected] if you would rather email than put it on here for all the world to see.
