Eastern Shore of MD | I am very satisfied with dryland soybean residual program which is burndown + sharpen + authority XL + metribuzin but we can not find a program that works well for our irrigated full season beans. We are very limited on which herbicides we can use due to long rotational restrictions for the vegetables we grow...namely cucumbers, green peas and baby lima beans. We are required to report the previous years chemical use on the vegetable acres so just keeping with the current labels on herbicides is a challenge sometimes. Ideally we would also like a herbicide that can be incorporated as we run a turbo till to lay down the corn stalks from last yrs crop and we also run row cleaners on the planter so technically that could also be called a form of incorporation.
Previous years - ran Boundary spiked with a little more dual but had many escapes
Last year - ran Valor SX early (4 weeks before planting) and came back with like a 1/2 rate of Linex and Dual premerge but also had really too many escapes and had to replant a few small areas - not sure if that was valor injury or lack of moisture, etc.
I am a little afraid of Prowl applied early due to possible brittle stem issue... has anyone ever had a problem with Prowl applied in April/ Early May in soybeans?
Really considering going back to a full rate of Linex + Dual applied right after planter runs if we can manage that?
These are RR beans so we do have 1 planned post emergence pass.
Any other good suggestions?
TIA
