East Central Illinois. 39.346676, -87.653484 | One of my landladies has asked me to convert an old brick and mortar flower box (2Wx3Lx1.5D) into an outdoor fireplace/fire-pit for her. I'm a bit concerned that the heat will bust up the old mortar.
My thoughts are to line the inside with fire brick, then 3/16 sheet steel and knock out a brick at ground level on each end for drainage/venting...
Any suggestions, ideas or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated. |
