I read an article and in the article it stated he was in the West Point Band.  I guess that doesn't mean he was a West Point cadet or graduated from there.  I was probably mistaken in what I originally heard.

If that's the case I'm sorry for the confusion.

If you graduate from West Point aren't you automatically an officer?  I was under the impression that you were a second lieutenant upon graduation.

I saw somebody who said they were a West Point grad and they wore Sargent stripes.
