East central Iowa | I downloaded the ISO and created a boot disk with mem test86. I ran the program for a couple of hours and it found nothing wrong.
I also downloaded and ran the Western Digital program to do the long test on the HD. The SMART portion passed, all OK. Then ran the long test which took about 16 hours. At the end it said there were some bad sectors, then I understood it to ask if I wanted to fix them and I said OK. I then ran the short test and it said all was okay. So I let the computer run overnight without problems but when I shut it down I got that BSOD with it saying might be a driver or new peripheral.
Nothing has changed on this computer.
I rebooted and all was fine, then I left and when I came back the blue screen was there again. But if I shut it down it reboots just fine.
I'm going to replace the HD and the memory. |
