Gettysburg, SD | I was just looking at the hourly graph weather chart for our area on the NWS(NOAA) site. I noticed boxes to check that allow you to look at ventilation rate, haines index, and some other fire weather values. Uncertain of these terms, i googled and found this (http://okfire.mesonet.org/sub_info/Mixing%20Height%20Transport%20Wind%20and%20Category%20Day.pdf)
In that document, the OK fire weather folks talk about smoke inversions, and when is a good time to burn.
Now I know I am swinging from left field on this one, but I am sure there are some firefighters that read agtalk, and was wondering if you, or anybody for that matter, could tell me if there is a way to read these that may help us understand how much we are pushing our luck with a spray inversion by understanding these charts better?
I am sure if I spent some time watching weather and reading the charts, i could see if there is a relation, but you guys are a great reference so I thought i would cut to the chase and just ask?
TIA
