| I finally purchased a new Toshiba laptop for my son going to college. Now I'm stuck with his old laptop (Dell Inspiron E1705) that has 2 gb of memory. I was hoping I could upgrade this to make it run Windows Vista better, but on a few sites I looked at it said that 2 gb was the most this laptop could handle. Am I stuck at 2 gb or can I go to 4? It only has 2 slots.
I also own a Dell Inspiron 531 which currently has 3 gb (2 slots have 1gb and the other 2 slots have 512). Could I buy some 2gb memory cards and try them on the E1705 and if they didn't work could I put them in the 531 instead?
I'm stupid when it comes to the whole memory thing. Also, where is the best place to buy memory from. I believe these are 667 DDR or whatever that means.
Thanks,
