| While looking for other combine pictures I found these.
Grandfather got a fordson F soon after they came to the area.
He then set up a system with ropes to operate the tractor from
the binder. I know the tractor didn't have a governor, but one was
added, maybe before this set-up. The picture was said to have
been published in a fordson journal of the day, but I had never
seem a copy.
I have a fordson "F", but not the original. Someday I will find
the time to get unit running. Motor is not seized and I do have
a few coils for the unit.
Also found another combine picture. Dad and Grandfather
got a 21 in 1944. paid something like $4400. Picture with
old chev would be from mid 40's. Picture with combine
is from about 1950. Also picture of first years combining. For a
few years the 21 did 900-1000acres, may not be much to southern
area, but that was a lot in this area.
Note from same book: wheat #2 $1.05/bus, barley $.70/bus
gas $.25/impgal
