Central IL | Am currently in the planning process of adding a 2 story addition to our home, going to use a general contractor most likely. Our original estimates were bid with just having a crawl space underneath. Thought I'd see how much more it would cost to go with a full basement instead…always nice to have more storage space. Was told in order to have a full 8 feet of basement, the floor (of the addition) would be one foot lower than the original basement floor…. makes sense since our original basement is just over 7 foot. How much more money should it take to dig out and pour a basement vs. going the crawl space route? 17x26 addition size. Located in central Illinois.
