| Last Thursday morning we received a truck load of pullet litter at the WIU Organic Research Farm
Unlike any litter I've worked with before, this stuff oozed out of the truck like gooey pudding (see attached pics).
we would like to spread ~ 2 tons/acre on a field going to corn sometime in March or April.
What is the best way to spread manure of this consistency?
I could try to modify the consistency by blending the goey manure with old hay or some other relatively low C:N ratio bulking agent (e.g. run the manure and hay through a neighbor's old manure spreader with rear beaters) but I don't want to mix the manure with a high C:N ratio bulking agent that would cause major N tie-up.
Any thoughts?
