Zabcikville, TX | We are destroying (disking) some wheat that failed. The next trip over it will be with a chisel plow to hopefully get a little more dirt and less trash/stubble applying 10-34-0 an maybe Zn for next year. My question is this, since we are going to have volunteer wheat coming up after the fall fert, would it be of any benefit to next years crop (probably corn) to let the wheat grow and metabolize or break down the fertilizer to make it more usable to the next crop? Or, just keep it clean with herbicides over winter? Would probably only let the volunteer get about 4-6" before killing it with RU. Will the volunteer use too much fert and take it away from next years crop or will it break it down into a more usable form?? Thanks! | |
