Subject: Lawn mower carb. question

WC. MN.
I've got a mower with a 20 hp. Briggs and Stratton engine. When I tried to start it , it was spitting gas out the top thru 2 small holes about 1/8" in diam. Took the carb. off, cleaned it, put it back on, and when turning over to start it still spit some gas out the top, but it started and ran. Increased the rpm a bit and gas stopped coming out the top and motor ran just fine. Would it be the needle and seat causing this? Float was ok. Thanks
