SW Ohio | this is the mrs. here. we don't post on here often, but look every couple days or so. now we need your advise!
we have a lucky calf that's had a bad day. my husband went to feed and found a holstein calf (about 300lbs) hanging on the fence in an attempt to escape. a t-post had caught him in the skin around the navel. LUCKILY the t-post did not puncture him there, but the post did cut his belly quite a ways before finding his navel. the cut does not go completely through the skin, but is still a nice cut. the calf was banded at least 3-4 months ago and was given tetanus toxoid once at that time. should we given him a tetanus booster? we are going to give him penicillin.
i don't know why or how he ended up like this. he is one of the calmest calves in that bunch... go figure.
thanks in advance! |
