West Central Iowa | I am currently in a synchronization period for my cow herd and have a question. Yesterday evening I pulled the CIDRS, gave Lut., applied Kamar heat detectors on their tailheads. In my experience I have never had a cow exhibit heat in the first 12 hours after pulling the CIDR and giving Lut, but went out this morning and there were two whose heat detection patches were red. I never saw them ridden, and other signs of being in heat would be considered minimal.
What do I do? I could AI tonight and give GnRH to ensure an egg gets released (in case they are actually not in heat). I could also wait until they exhibit stronger signs, but if they don't I missed my chance and there will no way "timed breeding" them @ 72 hours will produce an AI calf.
Any experience or other suggestions are welcome.
