Guy brought me a little computer that has an operating system on it I don't recognize.  It isn't XP and if it's Linux it isn't like the Linux that I use.  The computer is about 9" roughly.  I didn't find anything at Asus about it, he took it back and I don't know the exact model.  I thought knowing it was eee was sufficient, wrong.

At any rate about 1/3 of the screen is lighter than the rest.  That makes it very hard to read what's on that side and very difficult to determine what icons are there.  

He thinks that he or his kids may have changed a setting that caused the problem.  I couldn't find any screen settings.

I did run a diagnostic that showed all the colors in bands across the screen and there was NO lightening of colors in that test.  That would seem to indicate no hardware problem.
