Alternator off of a mt765b challenger. Will need repair.
Winter cat inspection found that the alternator on our cat challenger had dry sounding bearings and should be repaired. We took it to the local rebuild shop and they rebuilt it with new bearings, etc. when we put it back in the tractor for some reason in was putting out too much voltage to the tractor. (Around 19volts). We took it back to the alternator shop a couple times and they couldn’t find the problem and insisted it was a problem on our tractor. We ended up needing to get the tractor back together so just ordered a brand new alternator from agco and installed on our tractor. So we have this old rebuilt alternator on the shelf that puts out too much voltage. I think the new one was like $1,200.
If you know how to rebuild alternators or have a good local shop that will this one will likely work just fine once repaired. Our local shop has closed that rebuilt this.
